I did the interior design for this UT Press book about Mayan music. I used the cover design by a different designer as a jumping off point in order to tie the interior and cover design together. The cover design used Mayan fabric as a design element, but that didn’t translate very well for an interior design accent. I decided to use the spiral because it was simple, and it reminded me a little of ancient Mayan calendars and sounds waves.
